Energen/Alagasco employees recently participated in Energen’s second annual 9/11 Week of Service.
The week of service, which began as an initiative to rekindle the spirit of service, tolerance and compassion that unified America and the world in the immediate aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, included volunteering at an area shelter and Birmingham’s Horizons School.
On Sept. 9, 10 and 12, 30 Energen/Alagasco employees volunteered to serve lunch at Pathways, a shelter for women and children in downtown Birmingham.
Energen Corporation partnered with a local Bojangles restaurant to provide the lunches from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.
September 11 was reserved for employees to observe the day of remembrance as they chose.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, Energen/Alagasco employees will wrap up the week of service by helping Horizon School students with mild learning disabilities and handicaps move into their dorms. Horizon School is a school created to prepare these young adults to live independently.
We want to thank our employees for their great volunteer initiatives within our communities. At Energen /Alagasco, we know our business success is tied to our commitment to supporting those who help others.
