We’re Alagasco, Alabama’s natural gas company. 159 years ago, we began delivering the natural gas that lit the lamps over Montgomery’s cobblestone streets and horse-drawn carriages. Today, we work for more than 430,000 Alabamians, supplying homes, businesses and entire cities with the power that fuels their lives.
Today, we’re launching a blog, and we’re just as excited about this new beginning as we are about providing Alabama with clean and efficient energy.
For most folks, bumping into the Alagasco rep who’s reading the meter is the most interaction they have with us. Chances are, though, you’ve run into a member of the Alagasco family in your community, at your schools, or at your favorite neighborhood restaurant. We’re 1,500 strong – a thriving company of mothers and fathers, friends and neighbors – and when we’re not working, we’re playing softball, going hunting or helping out at the local food drive just like you.
We’re launching this blog to allow you get to know us a little better—and to allow us to get to know you better, too. So, let us be the first to say: “Hello. It’s a pleasure working for you.”
To kick off, here’s a little bit more information about us:
Who is Alagasco? We’re more than a just a bill in your mailbox! We’re the folks making sure you’re getting hot water for the shower each morning, heat in your home on chilly nights and gas for grilling season. Behind the scenes, we’re searching for new sources of fuel and better, cheaper ways to deliver it. We’ve been doing all of that and more since 1852, when we began as Montgomery Gas and Light.
What are we all about? Saving! We care about saving you time, saving you money, and saving you energy. On our website, we’ve got great tips for taking a bite out of your energy bill, and we plan to share more with you here.
What can you expect to find here? This blog is as much about communication from us as it is about hearing from you. So here’s our end of the bargain: we’ll be posting helpful tips for saving energy in your home, useful information about our company and our industry, interesting facts about the science and application of natural gas in today’s world, and introducing you to the men and women who work hard every day to fuel Alabama’s communities. But here’s what we need from you: interaction. Post away! Tell us something, ask us questions, share your feedback! We want to hear what’s on your mind and how we can better serve you.
How will it all work?
Our blog is moderated because, well, we want to ensure that the comments and content on our site are family friendly. But we promise to post anything that is on topic and of general interest to the community. All we ask is that you practice the Golden Rule. Of course, profanity, slurs or disparaging personal remarks won’t be published.
One final note — our blog is not the forum to address specific service issues or emergencies. To report a gas leak, a line break, or any other gas service emergency, please call 1-800-292-4008. For other inquiries about your account, service or billing, you can reach us via email or phone.
