National Barbeque Month

May is National Barbeque Month (we didn’t make this up). When our Good Heat Chef, Clayton Sherrod, gave us his Southern Burger with Watermelon and Baby Greens Salad recipe, we couldn’t wait until May to share it. April is already turning out to be a great month for grilling. So go ahead, turn on your natural gas grill and start enjoying spring! Stay tuned in May for more barbeque recipes and tips. 


Chef Clayton Sherrod’s Southern Burger Grill with Watermelon & Baby Greens Salad

3 lbs. ground beef

2 T. olive oil

¼ c. grated cheddar cheese

3 T. cooked, crumbled bacon

¼ c. diced green tomatoes

1 T. minced garlic

3 T. minced Vidalia onions

2 T. Worcestershire sauce

2 T. ketchup

Chopped cilantro (optional)

Salt, pepper (optional)


Place ground beef in a large bowl, add remaining ingredients and mix well.  Divide into 6 patties and flatten slightly into oval shape. Cook on gas grill over medium-high until done.


Watermelon & Baby Greens Salad

Baby salad greens

Toasted almonds

Shaved parmesan cheese

Watermelon, cut into cubes

Vinaigrette salad dressing

Toss first four ingredients in a salad bowl and dress to taste!
