Summertime ‘To-Dos’ for a Warmer Winter

So you’re looking around your house wondering how it got to be so cluttered, when it hits you. It’s time for spring (or maybe summer) cleaning!

Chase the dust bunnies from under the bed, wipe the cobwebs from the corners and power wash the deck. But are you missing one big “to-do” hidden away in your basement? Your furnace could need a summer sprucing. If you say, “Yes!” to any of the statements below, it might be time to replace your furnace if:

-Your furnace is 15 years old…or older.

A 15-year-old furnace is typically around 80% efficient while a newer one could be up to 97% efficient.

-You are often replacing individual parts on the furnace.

Sometimes it is more cost effective to replace the entire furnace than replacing pieces that start to wear out. One broken part may lead to frequent upkeep.

So, you think you may need to replace? Always have your furnace checked, yearly, by a Gas Advantage Contractor. They are qualified and can tell you for sure whether you need a new furnace or whether you’re good to go for another winter.

If the Gas Advantage Contractor confirms that it is time to replace, there are plenty of options out there. But how should you choose? Well, we like to focus on the long-term savings and benefits of Natural Gas.

-With a new Natural Gas furnace and a new cooling system you could save up to $1,300 a year in operating costs.

-Natural Gas furnaces can last up to twice as long as electric heat pumps and are up to 97% efficient.

-Not only will you be saving money with a new Natural Gas furnace, but gas furnaces deliver heat up to 25° F warmer – and they’re quicker at doing it.

If you have a Natural Gas furnace that needs to be replaced, Alagasco is offering a rebate for up to $200 when you replace your old Natural Gas furnace with a new Natural Gas furnace. If you have an electric heat pump, Alagasco offers a rebate for up to $1,000 when you switch from an electric heat pump to a new Natural Gas furnace and a new cooling system.
